Orienteering
Orienteering is essentially using a map just as in navigation, so the same skills are required. Orienteering is a popular sport and there are many orienteering clubs in this country. The maps used are smaller scale than walking maps and there is much more detail, so you could describe this activity as being 'concentrated navigation'.
Orienteering is often used as a fun activity and may be used as a competition to score points. You can travel from point to point on the map or it may be a case of finding individual points before returning to the checkpoint where someone will be stationed to verify that you have been successful in finding your allocated location. Once you have found one point then you will be given another to find.
KMS can set up orieenteering courses, which can be short or long - as little as an hour to a whole day, all depending on how much you want to do! This activity is ideal for people of all ages and is great for groups, families, stag/hen parties or for individuals.
