Scrambling
Scrambling is the fastest growing outdoor activity in Britain and is for the hill walker who wants that little bit more without getting into serious rock climbing. Scrambling takes you into steeper and more rugged areas of mountains than your average hill walk . Scrambles are graded according to difficulty and the degree of exposure. At the lower end of the grading system it involves little more than using your hands for balance on steeper ground. At the higher end it shares much in common with basic rock climbing, involving ropework and belaying skills.
The best way to learn these basic scrambling skills is to come on a course with KMS. You can either choose to be guided up a scramble of your choice by one of our experts or learn the art of safely getting up a mountain away from the crowds. With KMS you won't just be hauled up a rock, but you'll learn how to safely add excitement to your peak bagging. KMS will teach you how to select and assess suitable belays, place proctection where needed and develop those judgement skills to decide when to move together quickly or pitch parts of the route.
So where do you fancy scrambling? There are so many areas in the UK to choose from whether it be classic routes in North Wales, Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis, or a complete traverse of the Cuillin Ridge on the breathtaking Isle of Skye. KMS can provide the equipment, the expertise, and the enthusiasm because remember we love mountains as much as you!
Name your destination or discuss it with us and we'll help you decide the best routes for you. Standard courses range from one to five days or we can arrange a course to suit you. Contact us for details.
