Kendal Mountaineering Services (KMS) offer a range of bespoke outdoor courses, activities and mountain skills training courses to the general public, to suit all levels of ability and ambition.

Our philosophy - to provide you with a fun, memorable and value for money experience.

Winter skills Courses: outdoor activities and courses Our activity courses range from half day sessions, these are suitable for beginners looking for an easy introduction to outdoor sports to full and multi days trying as many different things on our list as you like. Typically, you'll experience two activities in a day and much of the equipment you'll need will be provided as part of the price. These activities are ideal for a Stag or Hen party looking for an event with a difference!

Group & Individual Outdoor Activities

We will happily work with individuals or groups. See our courses and tuition section for the range of activities on offer and check out our prices. Discounts are available when booking over the minimum numbers. The bigger your party, the more you'll save.

We also provide skills training courses in navigation (map reading), climbing, scrambling and winter skills. We offer refresher days for people getting ready for a Mountain Walking Leader assessment or re-assessment as well as guided climbing, scrambling, climbing and caving - these tend to be full days although some courses can be two days or more.

Activity Venues

Activity sessions/days are run here in the Lake District National Park along with the other courses which can also be run in North Wales, The Peak District and Scotland with Caving taking place in the nearby Yorkshire Dales National Park.
