Langdale has some excellent multi-pitch beginner rock climbs such as those on Upper Scout Crag or Middlefell Buttress. Borrowdale is another excellent rock climbing venue with Shepherds and Black Crag being great for multi-pitch climbing and beginners. Dow Crag near Coniston provides some harder multi-pitch rock climbs and there are also some excellent easy locations for rock climbing in the Ullswater Valley.

Learning to Lead Rock Climbing Courses

Have you begun your rock climbing adventure by learning on an indoor wall? You know some of the jargon, you have the basic rope skills and you can confidently belay?

If you want to take your rock climbing up a notch, you need to get outdoor on rock and a LOE learn to lead rock climbing course is designed for just this purpose; transforming you from an indoor to outdoor rock climber.

Your climbing instructor will teach you about anchor selection; how to place running belays (gear placements) using the appropriate equipment for the placement, how to construct anchors to belay your climbing partner and how to abseil safely from the crag if you need to retreat.

Learning to Lead Rock Climbing Courses

You will also be taught the importance of climbing calls and belaying within sight/earshot of your second if at all possible and how to interpret guidebooks when deciding on what rock route to do.

Guided Multi Pitch Climbing Courses

Whether you are a competent climber, learning the ropes or you’re an accomplished indoor climber with limited experience of outdoor climbing, you will have heard the names of the Lake District classic rock climbs and those of further afield; in Snowdonia or Scotland.

If you want to get on those routes and tick them off, then try a private guided multi pitch rock climbing course with one of our qualified mountaineering & climbing instructors. We will assess your previous rock climbing experience and tailor the routes to your ability.

Some of the classics include Little Chamonix on Shepherds Crag, Corvus on Raven Crag, Eliminate A on Dow or Kipling Groove on Gimmer Crag.

Learn to lead rock climbing and multi pitch rock climbing courses are based on an instructor to client ratio of 1:2. These courses can be run in the Lake District, North Wales or Scotland.

For further information about any of our rock climbing adventures in the Lake District, North Wales or Scotland, please contact us.
